Dr. Mahesh K. Dey is a professor of English at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, Gujarat, India. He teaches English literature, Linguistics & ELT, New Literatures in English as well as available in English translation to MA students. He supervises the dissertations of research scholars in his university and evaluates the theses M. Phil & Ph. D. scholars of different Indian universities as an external referee. He has teaching as well as research experience of about twenty-five years. He was awarded the Faculty Research Programme (FRP) by the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute (SICI) in 2007. He visited the University of Manitoba, Canada for four weeks and worked on his research proposal on Native Literature, History and Culture. He has visited a few other Canadian universities to participate various international conferences, workshops and summer seminars several times. In 2006, he attended two international summer seminars on Canadian Studies at the University of Ottawa and University of Halifax organized by the International Council for Canadian Studies (ICCS), Ottawa, Canada.
He has been awarded tuition scholarships to attend the DHSI courses at the University of Victoria, Canada. He has attended a large number of academic events in various Indian universities/institutions and presented his research papers. Some of his research articles have been published in a number of conference proceedings, literary journals and books. His recent areas of interest include Eco-criticism, Environmental Studies and Digital Humanities. He is a life time member of EFSLE, an International Organization working in the field of Ecocriticism. He is also the Joint Secretary of EFSLE for its Gujarat South Region.
