In Maharashtra EFSLE established its Executive Council in 2017 at the Department of English, University of Mumbai. Initially there remained only one council in the state till 2024.
In October 2023, Vidarbha Region Executive Council was established locating its headquarter at Nagpur University. In the beginning of January 2025, another new Executive Council was established locating its headquarters at Aurangabad.
There are Three (3) Executive Councils in the state now:
- Konkan & Western Maharashtra- This Region comprises of Konkan Division (including the Seven Districts of Mumbai City district, Mumbai Suburban district, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg) and Pune Division-Desh (including the Five Districts of Sangli, Satara, Solapur, Kolhapur and Pune)
- North Central Maharashtra- This Region comprises of Nashik Division-Khandesh (including the Five Districts of Dhule, Ahmednagar, Jalgaon, Nandurbar and Nashik) and Aurangabad Division-Marathwada (including the Eight Districts of Aurangabad, Beed, Jalna, Osmanabad, Nanded, Latur, Parbhani and Hingoli)
- Vidarbha- This Region comprises of Nagpur Division (including the Six Districts of Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur and Wardha) and Amrawati Division (including the Five Districts of Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Yavatmal and Washim)
All the three Regions have one Regional Secretary (RS) who will be responsible to the Joint Secretary (JS) of the State.
